The time is drawing closer when we will have a new pope. The Conclave will begin March 12, 2013 to elect our next Pontiff. Needless to say there are stories swirling around as to characteristics, qualities, demographics, etc. I will try not to get too embroiled in these wordly discussions, but rather keep my eyes focused on Heaven through prayer.
This AP article does a fair job of just giving you facts about the so-called potential front-runners. I smile to myself because no one, but God Himself knows who the frontrunner is. But, regardless the article is a good read and certainly puts into perspective the years of education, training and experience that a cardinal brings to guiding our Holy Mother Church. I felt so humbled when I read the accomplishments of each of these men. No doubt we will have another great pope.
All of these men have been appointed by either Blessed Pope John Paul II or Benedict XVI and they are testament to these wise and prayerful popes which God has graced us with. Well, there are a couple that I’m still not comfortable with, but it’s not my role to question. I just need to keep steadfast in knowing that God is kind and merciful and He will take care for us, His loving and loyal flock.
EWTN has provided us with beautiful prayers as spiritual resources during this important time. Join me in praying:
[dropcap]O [/dropcap]God, eternal Shepherd,
who govern Your flock with unfailing care,
grant in Your boundless fatherly love
a pastor for Your Church
who will please You by his holiness
and to us show watchful care.
Through Our Lord, Jesus Christ, Your Son,
who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
