Once in a Blue Moon

I’m sure you’ve heard the expression “once in a blue moon” which connotes a rare experience. Well, tonight on July 31 we’ll have a rare lunar experience — a second full moon this month or what is called a Blue Full Moon. Spend a little time gazing at this beautiful creation that God has given us this year. We won’t see another Blue Full Moon until 2018. That year will bring us two Blue Full Moons in January and March.

I certainly plan on gazing at the Blue Full Moon and I will think of these words from the Canticle of Brother Sun and Sister Moon of St. Francis of Assisi

[pullquote align=”full” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””] Most High, all-powerful, all-good Lord, All praise is Yours, all glory, all honour and all blessings.
To you alone, Most High, do they belong, and no mortal lips are worthy to pronounce Your Name….

Praised be You, my Lord, through Sister Moon and the stars,
In the heavens you have made them bright, precious and fair. [/pullquote]
