March 25, 2013 fell on the Monday of Holy Week. So, the Feast of the Annunciation was moved to April 8, 2013. This is such a remarkable event in our salvation history–after Our Lady says “yes”, God becomes man. God, the Almighty Creator of the Universe, becomes man within His perfect creature, the Virgin Mary. God’s love for us is manifested.
No doubt the Virgin was fearful, but she trusted God. That is a valuable lesson for all of us. In those moments when fear creeps into our lives, let us keep our trust in God alive and vibrant.
I’d like to end my post with this quote from Pope Pius XII:
[quote]The Virgin Mary utters that generous word, ‘be it done’…Immediately the Heart of Jesus, ever to be adored, has begun to pulsate with love, divine and human.[/quote]
