I take refuge/till the storms of destruction pass by. – Ps 57:2b
I recently read this meditation in Magnificat: “The Fathers of the Church interpreted ‘the shadow of God’s wings’ as the shadow of the cross on which are outstretched the protecting arms of the Savior. Christ, the King crucified and risen, is the shelter in whom we dwell secure.”
These words present us with another perspective to Our Lord hanging on the cross. His outstretched arms create a place where we can find protection from the storms that arise in our daily lives. Yes, even from the cross, the Good Shepherd finds a way to protect His sheep.
